Our working hypothesis at the Powers of Place Initiative is that transformative power becomes available when people and places are in right relationship with each other. We define research as scholarly information, either primary source or derivatives thereof, such as articles, presentations, conference proceedings, and video footage.
Research at the Powers of Place is focused on two things: 1) advancing emergent knowledge about what can happen when people relate to place in particular and more conscious ways; and 2) offering – in full text or other format – existing disciplined inquiry on the human/place relationship from a variety of disciplines and perspectives.
In this section you can learn about research inquiries already completed or
underway and explore new questions waiting to be explored. You can listen in
on conversations with leading thinkers in the field and find ways to further
explore your own areas of interest. You can also link to a searchable
database of research on place and space offered by Bruce Janz, Ph.D., . We hope that
no matter from which direction you are approaching this work, you’ll consider
contributing your own wisdom, and that of others you know about, to our research
and exploration.
Follow
your instincts and your own curiosity to expand what we
have discovered here - we invite you to contact
us with suggestions for research projects you would
like to be part of, or start
a working group in the Field
to explore your ideas with others. Together we may evolve
perspectives that can be valuable contributions to a more
productive and connected future.
